Happy To Be Nappy

Happy To Be Nappy

Twists, locks and braids; our individual freedom of speech
Why is "Corporate America" tripping?
What are they trying to teach?
Our hair is natural; wavy, tight or straight
Who are you trying to desecrate?
Why the need for the great debate?
Our purpose is to reach and educate
The African-American experience is something you just cannot relate
Brought from our homeland in shackles and shame
We lost our true identity responding to your unfamiliar name
Now you want to smirk and sneer whenever we enter a room
Our persona, our aura is overpowering, too much to be consumed
Educated and elegant, oh we got it going on...
We are a people of dignity empowered by grace
Releasing the chains of the past, moving upwards to a higher place...

Ayn Rand

Collectivism- a belief that everyone should have ownership over land
Individualism- by ones self.
Socialism-goods and services controlled by the government
Capitalism-when someone or a corporation controls production and distribution.
Communism-a theory that defines no private ownership

In Ayn Rand's essay Man's Rights, she voices how man has the right to provide for himself and his family and to be happy. At a glance, my understanding of Collectivised Rights was that a group has no rights. The individuals have rights. To me this makes a lot of sense.

All of this makes sense in someways. Every man has rights. Since man makes up the group, the only rights the group has is that of those who make up the group. This is somewhat contradictary because there are many groups that have rights. For example, Union workers. One person couldn't go on strike and get the results that they are looking for. However, a union could go on strike and get the results they are looking for. This might have been a bad example but I tried.

Rand beleives that we should use our rights and they should dictate how we live. I agree with this. I think that this would show us how much power we really have and how we can make our rights work for us
